Professional Account
The primary distinction between Retail and Professional Accounts is the increased leverage available to Professional Accounts. Under European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) legislation, the maximum leverage permitted on Retail Accounts is 30:1.
On Forex products, the Professional Account provides leverage of up to 400:1. To be eligible, you must have significant expertise in the financial field, sufficient trading activity in the preceding 12 months, and a financial portfolio worth at least €500,000. Another significant distinction is that spreads on Retail Accounts are greater than on Professional Accounts.
Options Trading
Namibia options traders may use AvaTrade to purchase or sell a specified amount of an asset at an agreed-upon price and time. This is known as options trading.
When retail traders in Namibia sell options, they have complete control over the product and the amount invested. Additionally, Namibian traders also have the option of establishing their own price structure and trading hours.
Depending on the trader’s trading technique and objectives, a single trading day, a week, a month, or even a year may be spent trading options. AvaTrade allows you to trade both Call and Put options.
Call options to let the buyer acquire an instrument at a predetermined price. These options are traded by investors who feel the market is headed correctly.
Base Account Currencies
When Namibian traders register an account, they can choose between these base currencies:
➡️ ZAR
➡️ USD
➡️ GBP
➡️ AUD
Demo Account
A demo account is a practice account that offers traders a certain amount of virtual funds that they can use, allowing them to enter the live market without risking their capital.
There is a certain degree of risk involved when trading financial markets and AvaTrade offers its clients a risk-free platform where they can test strategies, practice trading, and explore what the broker offers in a safe trading environment with natural market conditions.
There is a free Demo account available to practice trading and familiarize yourself with the AvaTrade platform. The sole disadvantage of the Demo platform is that, unlike several rivals’ demonstrations, it expires after 30 days.
Islamic Account
Depending on the trading style and the trading strategy of the forex trader, they may keep their trading positions open for longer than 24 hours on a trading day.
This means that the trader could incur an overnight or rollover fee. This is a type of interest that is prohibited by the Riba principles of Sharia law, which means that Muslim traders are often restricted in forex trading.
The Islamic account adheres to all aspects of Sharia law and is intended for Muslims whose religion bans interest charging. Although it is a Standard Account, it does not accrue or deduct swap fees or interest.
It is permissible to engage in the following financial activities while adhering to Islamic law:
➡️ Halal Gold and Silver Trading
➡️ Halal Oil Trading
➡️ Halal Indices Trading
➡️ Islamic Forex Trading

Deposit and Withdrawal Fees
No fees are levied when Namibian traders deposit or withdraw money from their trading accounts.
Inactivity Fees
After three consecutive months of inactivity, they charge a $50 inactivity fee. This amount is deducted monthly from the account until the trade balance reaches zero.
However, if the trading account stays dormant for 12 consecutive months, a $100 administrative charge will be levied.
Currency Conversion Fees
Additionally, currency conversion fees may apply if Namibian traders deposit funds in BWP and those funds are converted to one of the permitted base account currencies.
What are the trading fees charged by AvaTrade?
AvaTrade employs a transparent fee structure, and trading fees vary depending on the financial instruments traded. For forex trading, fees are generally incorporated into the spreads, which are competitive and can start as low as 0.8 pips. When trading CFDs on stocks, indices, and commodities, traders may encounter commission charges, while spreads remain tight.
It’s essential to review AvaTrade’s detailed fee schedule or consult with customer support to gain a comprehensive understanding of trading fees for specific instruments.
Does AvaTrade charge any non-trading fees?
AvaTrade aims to be fair and transparent with its non-trading fees. While the broker does not charge any deposit fees, traders should be aware of potential withdrawal fees. Withdrawal fees may apply based on the withdrawal method chosen, so it’s advisable to review the withdrawal fee schedule before making transactions. Additionally, inactive accounts that remain dormant for more than three months may be subjected to an inactivity fee, so traders are encouraged to stay informed about the broker’s non-trading fee policies.
